The Ascent of Woman

We were honoured to produce the creative package for Dr. Amanda Foreman’s acclaimed four-part documentary series – The Ascent of Woman.

Originally shown on BBC2, the series documents the crucial role of women in society over the course of 10,000 years. It was the first ever documentary to present the history of women from the dawn of civilization to the modern day, highlighting extremes of freedom and oppression, inclusion and exclusion.

Dr. Amanda Foreman was rewriting the history of women, telling untold stories. We produced a creative package for the show, centred around a key inspiration – traditional calligraphy. We felt written script evoked the series’ historical and ethical focus, while the tactility of paper reflected its authenticity and emotion.
